You don't raise heroes, you raise sons.
And if you treat them like sons, they'll turn out to be heroes, even if it's just in your own eyes.

Getting Ready For Storytime

I took Joshua down to the San Marcos Library for Storytime this morning. He sat so cutely on one of the couches just waiting for the okay to go into the story room.

Yes, I bring my own toys for him to play with. At this age everything goes into the mouth and the toys they bring out after reading the stories turns me into a total germaphobe.

Sleeping

Joshua has started to get on all fours when he is sleeping and this is what he looks like.

We Are Going To Start Sleep Training

Starting this weekend (since it's a three day holiday weekend) we are starting sleep training on Joshua. He is physically and emotionally mature enough to start now. I am going on seven and a half months of sleep deprivation. Joshua is capable of sleeping all night long as he has done it hit or miss in the past. Lately it's been he will go to sleep easily and the minute his little bum hits the mattress he is wide awake and won't go back to sleep unless we rock him for another twenty minutes. Thursday night last week he went down at 8pm, was up at 9pm, 10pm and 11pm...before I finally brought him to our bed where he slept till 1am, woke again at 2am....and again at 2:30am where he was awake until 6am in which he slept till 8am and was up the rest of the day. He refuses to take naps which means we are guaranteed a night like that. When he's a great baby and takes a morning and afternoon nap he sleeps with only one night waking. So we are going to follow Dr. Richard Ferber's method of The Progressive-Waiting Approach. Nearly all of the parents that have used this method in the past say that their child has slept through the night after 4-7 days of the training.

I will love being able to stick him into his crib and know that he will put himself to sleep and we can then go to sleep in our bed without a little body between us and sleep soundly all night long. Let's just say that rested parents will mean a happy baby.

Some Finds From Shopping Spree

Yesterday we hit up a couple of the baby stores at the outlet mall in San Marcos and bought some clothes for Joshua...all 18mths to 24mths in size. There is a lot more, but these are some of the cutest ones.

And of course he has to have as many boots as Daddy has.

What Are You Doing?

That is my new favorite question to ask Joshua. You can almost hear him saying, "Nothing!" as he looks at you with those big brown, innocent looking eyes.

He likes to walk down the hallways in his walker. I walked in after him and he was staring up at the ceiling. When I said his name he jumped and looked at me like I caught him doing something he shouldn't be doing. I scooted him back to the living room, where he went back down the hall almost immediately. The following pictures are of him trying to get into the laundry room.

Saying "Mama"

He's growing so fast. His new favorite babbling sound actually sounds like he's saying "Mama".

Starting To Move

Watch his knees near the end. He actually moves forward just a little bit.

Trying On Boots

We tried on Joshua's black cowboy boots. He looked cute in them, but he wasn't too sure about having them on his little feet.
