You don't raise heroes, you raise sons.
And if you treat them like sons, they'll turn out to be heroes, even if it's just in your own eyes.

Growing Too Fast

In just this past week Joshua has grown in leaps and bounds. He picks up almost every single word that we say. We have now had to make sure we watch any recorded CSI, Criminal Minds, Law & Order shows after he has gone to bed or during his naps. Just last night I was trying to figure out why my DVR wasn't recording my show and so ended up flipping back and forth through the stations. Joshua stopped playing stared at the TV and says "Uh Oh". We decided that even if it is Season Finales and the DVR is acting up we can skip the show and just watch simple things like AFV or Minute to Win it while he is up since he is starting to understand what he is seeing every day.

We can pretty much get him to repeat a new word every day now. Lately it's been, Wait, Down, Book, and just last night he strung two words together...Mama Book...while holding the book I had left on the back of the couch.
He also follows direction really well. We can change his diaper and then tell him to put his diaper in the trash and he will take it to the trash can, lift the lid, and drop the dirty diaper in it. He will pick things up off the floor, show it to us, and then throw it away...which is nice if it is actual trash and not Daddy's socks.

Big Shoes To Fill

Joshua has started walking around putting on Daddy's and Mommy's shoes. He thinks it's so funny, but gets upset when he can't turn around and keep the shoes on his feet. Silly boy.

18 Months Old

Photobucket
Today was Joshua's 18mth check-up with his new pediatrician. I had to keep reminding myself that she doesn't know him like Dr. Humphrey did so not to take too much to heart. She mentioned by 2yrs old he should be running. All I could think was "Running a 5K?". This baby runs already and fast too.

Anyway, he is a healthy little boy as always. He weighs 22lbs 8oz and is 32.5" tall. He gained almost a pound in the past two months. I used to be worried about it, but then I read other blogs or hear about other moms that are so worried about how much their child is gaining. At this point I'm not worried if Joshua doesn't weigh close to 30lbs. He is healthy and he is VERY, VERY active. Especially, when he started walking almost eight months ago and now just runs everywhere, climbs onto everything, and just plain never sits still. I think the only time I see him sit still is when he is sleeping and even then he is a wiggle worm.

We won't go back to his doctor until he is 24mths old (or he gets sick). So we are just going to keep doing what we have been doing and love him more and more every day.

His latest words are: Brother, Brat, Hot Dog, Wait, and Yes.

Taking The Toys For A Ride

Joshua has found a new game with the rocker. He will put his little toy animals on it and then race around making it spin. It is so adorable. If a toy falls off he wills stop, pick it up, put it back on, and race around again.

Joshua's New Bed

Here is a picture of Joshua's new toddler bed. I picked it up for $50 rather than spending $300 for the train one. This will also match his dresser since we will use the changing table and crib for the new baby. All we will need to buy right now is a dresser to match (hoping I can find the same one). I'm working on getting him into his bed for naps. Right now all he wants to do is climb up into it and play so at least he likes it.

Kisses

Joshua's favorite thing lately is giving lots of kisses. Yesterday I got him giving his turtle sprinkler kisses while in the pool.

Then when he got out of the pool he had to carry his turtle and waterpillar to the door with him.

A Bed For Joshua

I am looking at getting Joshua this toddler bed so that he can move out of our bed. Especially before my belly gets to big to fit all of us on our bed. I also think this way we can save some money with the new baby...we can just use Joshua's crib for the new baby rather than buy a new one. I like this bed because it has compartments up top for toys and then a toy box attached to the front to stash toys in too.

Visiting Nana and Papa

Joshua and I flew out to San Jose to visit Nana and Papa. We did so much and had so much fun. Now at home he walks around "Nana", "Papa". Even in the morning Joshua will wake up and say "Nana". This morning he seemed to be upset that Mama came and got him instead of Nana.

On the plane to San Jose
Once in CA we went to a park so Joshua could play
On Friday we went to Happy Hollow Park & Zoo
On Saturday we went to San Francisco
On Sunday we went to the park before meeting, then meeting, then a picnic with some friends.
Monday we went to Capitola
Had dinner with Tanya.
Bathtime on Tuesday night he liked making a beard.
Before heading home.
