You don't raise heroes, you raise sons.
And if you treat them like sons, they'll turn out to be heroes, even if it's just in your own eyes.

Elgin Western Days Festival 2010

We went to the Elgin Western Days Festival today. It was really hot out, but it was really fun. The carnival didn't have any rides for his size, but maybe next year. Definitely something to do every year. We went to Main Street and watched the parade go through downtown. Joshua loved watching the tractors and horses. I'll work on getting all the videos meshed together so you can see the parade.

Here are some pictures of Joshua in the petting zoo of the festival.

Peek-A-Boo

Joshua loves to play peek-a-boo all the time now. He does it with his bath towel after his evening shower. He'll do it with any shirt left lying around and will also do it with blankets sitting on the couches and chairs.

New Shoes

We found a pair of wanna-be-crocs at the HEB for $3 and thought they would be perfect for here on the land with him always walking in the dirt/mud. So we got them home and put them on his feet and asked him to show us his new shoes. He would hold his foot up in the air for us to look at. I am amazed every day he does something new like that because I know he didn't learn it from us.

Ojitos (Eyes)

Raul taught Joshua this past weekend how to bat his eyes when you say "Ojitos" to him. He is so adorable when he does it. I love getting him to do it first thing in the morning when he's so sweet and still somewhat sleepy.

Swim Lessons

Photobucket
After this past weekend at the lake we decided that putting Joshua into swimming lessons would be something fun and different for him to do this summer while it is hot outside. I've been calling Joshua my little water baby since he has had a love fascination with water for the longest time.

We will start our Mommy & Me lessons on Wednesday mornings at 10:00am. It should be lots of fun and we are both looking forward to it.

Singing With Scout

This is by far the best video ever of Joshua. He climbed up into his bed all by himself, sat there, and played with two little toys, while having Scout play music for him.

Camping Videos

Here are a couple videos from the camping trip of Joshua in the water.

First Camping Trip

This past weekend we went camping with another family and had a blast. It was Joshua's first camping trip and he did so great. The weather was not nearly as hot as it has been in the past. Joshua loved being in the water and after the first day decided he didn't want to be in his floaty any more so out he came. He learned to be calm while floating on his back and try to kick while being on his tummy. He loved running from the shallow end to me where he would go under the water and when I picked him up he would have a huge smile on his face.
Here he is right when we got there
