Kiss, Kiss

Joshua's newest phase is the kissing. I mean A LOT of kissing. Yesterday while doing laundry and picking up around the RV he would come running up to me yelling "Kiss, Kiss" and pucker up his lips for a kiss. It is the sweetest thing and I cherish these moments because he will eventually be a big boy and won't want to give Mommy kisses anymore.

Potty Training Will Commence in a Month

Why you may ask....well, we are leaving for vacation in a week. Who on earth starts potty training while on vacation? Then he will be visiting Nana and Papa for ten days after that trip so in 24 days I will begin the potty training. While we were out today I bought Joshua his Sea Turtle potty seat and big boy undies. We tested them and I got a picture, but he immediately peed in them...so obviously we aren't ready yet.

ABC's

I am proud to announce that Joshua knows almost all the letters on the alphabet on sight. He will point to the letters in books, magazines, and signs and say them out loud to you. He will even try to sign some letters of the alphabet. He is learning the sounds and will make the sound of what the letter makes. It is so much fun to watch him do it too.

I figure we will continue to work on his colors...right now everything is Blue. He'll repeat the colors and tell you the right one only after you have told him which one is which, but still I am rather excited at the progress my little man has made.

We work on counting too everyday, but so far he will only count to two. You end up hearing "One, Two, One, Two" coming from him when he is pointing to pictures or counting the trees on the side of the road.

I look forward to the day I get to pull all of his books out of the boxes, especially the Dr. Seuss ones. I really think he will be reading us his bedtime story before to long.

Playdate at the Austin Children's Museum

Yesterday, we went to the Austin Children's Museum to have a playdate with Javen and Silina. Our playdates are few and far between, but so much fun when we have them. We are looking at another one next week at the San Marcos Library where the firemen are coming to visit to read the kiddos stories and they get to explore the big fire truck.

So, back to the museum...they had so much fun. They loved the train/car table that is in the lobby area when you first come in.

We went the inventors area (which is actually for 5+ yr olds, but they had fun). They liked to build some strange contraptions with the little wheels and sticks. Joshua was more into dancing the sticks around the table than anything else.

Then there was the little construction zone with little plastic nuts and bolts that they would sort by shapes and drop into the pipes to go to the first floor. When on the first floor you can send the nuts and bolts up a pipe to the second floor.

Then of course Joshua would find the area with the toy cows to play with. He wanted to just stay there and put the cows into the little barn over and over again. I think Daddy is going to need to build him a toy barn or we are going to have to buy the one on schleich-s.com.

Right before leaving the museum I got a picture of the boys holding hands. It was so adorable and a true sign of how they are best friends.

We walked up a couple of blocks and had lunch at the Spaghetti Warehouse. The boys immediately wanted to get on the horse, which they proceeded to not like after getting on it. Oh well.

Reflections of Motherhood

Puddle Splashing

Last night we went out and played on the road with a remote control car of Joshua's and he found more fun in running through the mud puddles. I have found that this is the main reason I love living here now. I love that we can play in the middle of the street and not have to worry about someone driving their car 40 mph down a 30 mph street. It was so quiet except for Joshua's laughing and screaming. My adorable baby boy is growing up so fast.

Joshua's First Baseball Game

Last night we took Joshua to his first baseball game. He really enjoyed it and loved Spike (the mascot for the Round Rock Express). He had a hot dog and sips from our soda. He loved the ice the best. We took him to the Kids Fun Zone and let him run around on the playscape, which he LOVED. Our seats were in the sun so this took us away from them for a bit till the sun set. While I was getting us another drink Joshua got to give Spike a high-five and spent the rest of the game watching for him and would get so excited when he would see him out on the field. After the game the kids were able to run the bases, but after watching for a while we realized that no other little ones Joshua's age were running so we opted to wait till next year. We got to watch a fireworks show right after the game. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to do it again.

Nana sent Joshua some presents and yesterday we received one of the packages...A Cozy Coupe. It arrived just as we were sitting down for dinner, not that it meant anything to Joshua other than he had a car and it was in a box and neither Mama or Dada were going to open the box...needless to say we opened the box and spent two hours putting it together. It probably would have gone much faster if we hadn't had a mini helper grabbing at everything and then complaining that he couldn't get in the car while we were working on it.
